Benefits of Career Planning

Career planning, like all planning has been proven to have enormous benefits on your emotional, physical, and spiritual well-being. When you actively plan and set goals for yourself, you move forward from a place of power, where you can actively make decisions based on the goals you are working to manifest, instead of mindlessly going where life leads or feeling stagnate in your life or career.

Other Benefits of Career Planning

Allows you to create a strategy. Now that you have done the research and inner self work to discover your interests, skills, and what it would take to achieve your goals, you can put a plan in action. Your plan and setting smaller goals will motivate you to stay on track.

Build and grow your network. In researching new career options, you will have the chance to meet and connect with people in your field. These contacts will be invaluable down the line when transitioning into your new career. It will also give you insider information that will allow you to discover if a career choice is right for you.

Improved decision-making. The more information you have the better you can make decisions about what is the right step for you. Career planning allows you to really get to know yourself so that we can make decisions that align for you in all areas of your lives. Our careers to not exist in a vacuum, we must take into account our family life, relationships, and other meaningful responsibilities.

Improved relationships. When you are unhappy with your careers, that feeling does not leave when you clock out at the end of the day. It is a feeling that creeps up on you all the time, when you are with your families and friends, while trying to concentrate, and my favorite on Sunday night when you start to think about the week ahead. Having a career plan that you are excited about can breathe new excitement into your daily lives. You know who you are and what you want and can interact with people in a meaningful way, because you are no longer holding on to resentment or self-doubt.
